Language learning for curious children

Playful. Powerful. Research-informed.

What makes Olio Learns different

Story First

Each term follows a narrative journey through a real place. Story provides context, repetition, and emotional engagement — the key ingredients for language acquisition.

Learning Through Exposure

We introduce language in a way children can follow and enjoy, using visuals, movement, and repetition to help everything click.

Guided Speaking

Children build confidence step by step — first they listen, then they repeat, then they respond, and finally they begin creating their own sentences.

Cultural Curiosity

Language is never taught in isolation. We explore landscapes, animals, daily life, and community.

Our promise

At Olio Learns, we don’t just teach words.
We build confident communicators.

Through immersive stories, beautiful print materials, and structured speaking practice, children learn to use the language — not just recognise it.

Every term, we explore a new place.
Every lesson builds real language.
Every child feels capable.

Research-informed Design

Designed by a language specialist, Olio Learns is grounded in research on how children develop real speaking confidence and language ability.

The Story Behind Olio Learns

Olio Learns was created by Bianca Mister an educator, researcher, and language lover.

I grew up in Australia to immigrant parents, where language was more than communication — it was connection, identity, and belonging. That experience shaped me deeply. Teaching children about their heritage and keeping language alive across generations is not just professional work for me — it is personal.

With a PhD in second language acquisition and years of experience designing education and teaching at universities in Australia, I wanted to create something different for children — something structured, beautiful, and deeply intentional.

My research has focused on how people develop real speaking ability in a second language. That understanding now shapes every lesson inside Olio Learns.

As a multilingual educator and mother, I am intentionally raising my son with Spanish as his heritage language — a commitment that sits at the heart of Olio Learns.

Olio Learns was born from that belief.
